Wow oh wow!
What a year 2013 has been to me and ALP! It’ll take a lot more than one blog post to describe everything that has happened this year, but let me try put them in a short summary here;
2013 started with a busy bang, with the Chinese New Year just around the corner and we got caught in the middle of peak season, with lots of editing to complete for our clients. Then as everything starts to slow down, we thought we could take a breather & catch up with our editing backlogs, then our first big project came in with a major brand company. That kept us busy despite the extremely slow booking for the first half of 2013. We suspect it is due to everyone’s “wait & see” attitude towards our country’s general election.
When the general election date was finally announced, I went back to my hometown to do my part for my home country. It was good being “home” again. Getting nostalgic & eating all those glorious food. But it all ends too soon as I had to return back to Selangor to catch up with work and life in general.
Then another big project came knocking on our door. This time a TV show programme called The Super Cute show by NTV7. It is currently being aired every Friday evening at 9.30am, almost coming to their last few episodes. If you’ve missed out on this show, you can watch them again on www.tonton.com.my. Asther Lau Photography were in episodes 1, 3 and 6. 😉
Amidst this crazy busy year, the Bloom Girls decided to continue our passion of teaching photography and that led us to the beautiful authentic Penang Island up north. I must say it was our best Bloom Workshops event we’ve every organized. Despite not having an anchor sponsorship, and it was planned & executed by us four super busy women in just less than 3 months term! But having said that, we decided that’s just too much of a crazy stress & vowed not to do such last minute stuffs ever again. Hmmm… A new year resolution, perhaps? Hahaha… 😀
A week after returning back from Penang Island, I joint forced with a team of amazing stay-at-home & work-at-home mothers in organizing one of the biggest breastfeeding advocacy event in our country, The Gift of Love Charity Bazaar 2013. We broke a Malaysian Guiness Book of Record that day, the turn out of crowd was beyond words, and we managed to raise good amount to help us with our 2014 advocacy campaigns. 🙂 Here’s a clip by Bernama on Youtube:
And finally… after over a year contemplating if it’s time, we finally got a new home studio & launched our new studio packages towards the final part of this year. I am now poorer but my heart & hopes are richer indeed. 🙂 I’ll have to work a lot harder to pay for the studio as well as the overheads, but I pray that our current & new clients will have unforgettable memories with us in the studio. We’re still offering our outdoor portraiture for our adventurous families, so fret not. 😉
So what’s my new year resolution, you may ask? Well… I am not making a physical list. But one thing for sure… I aim to spend more time with my family, especially my little girl who has grown so much in this one year. I have regretted not spending enough quality times with her, due to me focusing too much on work and making my clients happy. So next year, I aim to create a better balance in this department. The rest… I’ll let them come slowly. 😉
So what’s your new year resolution? 🙂
