It’s all began at the Gynaes’ ultrasound monitor when I saw a tiny heartbeat in my wife’s uterus. We knew there and then that Almighty God had blessed us with something special to be brought to this wonderful world.

Months after months, this tiny heartbeat had grown to a tiny bean that was growing and growing ever so graciously. I still remembered our anxiousness and yet sheer excitement every time we went to the Gynae just to have a peek at “Little Bean” to reassure ourselves that she’s doing okay.

As we bought books and goggled the internet, eager to gather all the information and knowledge that we could lay our hands on to track her every development, baby Chermaine was equally enthusiastic trying to show her response through her tiny hand and feet movement, as though to tell her soon-to-be parents that she too was impatiently waiting to be born to our world.

Then came the BIG day when my wife had to endure a gruesome 18 hours labor before little healthy Chermaine decide to arrive to the world by an emergency C-section, tipping the scale at 3.52kg. I still remembered the moment the nurse handled her to my arms, she instantly stopped crying when I called her and when we first set eyes on each other, there was this special bond that was beyond description, as though she recognized her Daddy who was singing her nursery rhymes all along when she was still residing in Mommy’s stomach.

Times really fly when you are watching your little girl grow ever so quickly by the days. Chermaine is now soon to be celebrating her 1st birthday. All the fun that we had with Chermaine frankly makes me forget the sacrifices that we went through this 11-months journey, as we eagerly plans ahead for her childhood & future. We sacrificed our social life, adjusted our personal plan and schedule, re-prioritized our commitment. We did everything not because as a responsibility we had to, but because we WANT to, out of LOVE, coming from the deepest of our hearts.

Our tiny terrace house now resembles a tiny kinderland, stretching every square foot of space to provide Chermaine with her own playing space, her own napping area, her own changing room and even occupies a special spot in our cars, filled with all her favorite toys, just to bring comfort and security to little Chermaine whenever she goes.

Chermaine has grown to be extremely curious but yet very obedient and closed to us and even resembles my wife beauty day after day. No matter how tiring and frustrated we were at work, all the little gestures and funny faces that greets us at the doorstep never fails to melt our heart and threw all the unhappiness out of the window.

Honestly, we don’t at any moment felt or considered that we were making sacrifices, perhaps we were doing everything for the sake of Chermaine with such initiation, enthusiasm, so much joy and excitement and most importantly we did it all in the name of LOVE.

We are now busy preparing for little Chermaine 1st birthday themed “Clifford, friends & little Chermaine”.

P/s: She is a bit of a doggie freak as she loves dogs of all kinds, big and small.

I want to specially dedicate this message from the bottom of my heart to my dearest wife for all the love and patience she had given to me and blessed me with such a lovely princess. Of course not forgetting my gorgeous baby Chermaine – Daddy and Mommy have been and always will be there to cheer for you, care and love you, provide the best that we ever could for you and guide you, lift you every step to every greater success.

I’d like to use ALP’s winner gift to have another portrait session with my little princess and my wife as we really want to capture every moment and lock in all the fond memory of Chermaine growing up and we believe this will really be of sentimental value to us when we look back in time later.
